Infants

Our Infants Department consists of two classes: Form 1 and Form 2. There is usually a maximum of 22 pupils in a class. Our main aim at this stage is to provide your child with fun, interactive and exciting lessons which will stimulate their minds and ignite a love of learning.

Form 1 and 2 pupils spend much of the day with their class teacher, although even at this early stage, subject specialists teach Music, French, Art, ICT and Physical Education. Regular educational trips and visits to farms, museums and zoos support and extend our academic curriculum, as do classroom visits from authors, professionals and musicians.

Personal, social and emotional development is actively promoted within the Department, and children are encouraged to care for others both at school and within the wider local community.

Teachers operate an ‘open door’ policy whereby parents can email or arrange to speak to teachers whenever the need arises. Formal feedback of progress is through three reports during the year, regular parents’ evenings and half-termly newsletters.

Arrival

Children may be admitted to the school playground from 8.10am where they will be supervised by a member of staff until 8.30am. If it is wet, children should go to the front door where they will be met by a member of staff. All children are expected to be in School by 8.30am for registration.

At break time your child will be offered a healthy snack and a drink of water or milk.

After School Care

We have an After School Club, called Daffodils, which is run by Jancett Playsafe. There is provision from 3.15pm until 6.30pm and children need to be registered to attend. Please refer to the leaflet on our Daffodils club which provides information on how to register for this service.
