The History Curriculum

History at St David’s is an exciting and interesting subject which allows children to develop investigative enquiry skills from a young age through weekly lessons as well as through themed cross curricular days often involving dressing in costume! Children are fascinated to learn about the where they come from and their research and discussion skills are developed by looking at major historical events and certain periods in history.

Studying topics such as the Victorians, The Great Fire of London, The Egyptians, World War II, the Royal Family, The Norman Conquest, and The Ancient Greeks, to name a few, inspire pupils to develop a love and interest in history. Through studying these topics, children begin to understand the similarities and differences between life in the past and life today.

Creative project work and trips to places such as Battle Abbey and Tonbridge Castle are organised to bring their studies to life.
